The screenings will feature an enhanced viewing experience with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive audio, with the film digitally restored from an 8K scan of the original 35mm camera negative, and featuring a remastered audio presentation. “Purple Rain reimagined in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for Dolby Cinema is a celebration of Prince’s genius and enduring legacy,” said Jed Harmsen, Head of Cinema and Group Entertainment at Dolby. “Devoted and new fans alike prepare to be exhilarated by an unforgettable and unparalleled performance from one of music’s greatest of all time.” This special screening comes just one year after Purple Rain‘s 40th anniversary, and arrives while Prince’s estate is in conversation with producer Orin Wolf to create a musical adaptation of the film for the stage.
