Lizzo announced the start of a “new era” of music on Valentine’s Day, as the pop singer shared during a Twitch stream that she is set to debut new music on February 28. “I want to introduce to you guys, the newest piece of content from the new era. I’ve been working on new music for the last two years,” Lizzo said. “I took my time and I did it right. The new era has begun today.” Lizzo’s Grammy-nominated last album, Special, was released in 2022, and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart on the strength of the Hot 100 chart-topping lead single, “About Damn Time,” which went on to win Record of the Year. She followed the album with a tour that finished in July 2023, and has not released any new music since. Lizzo has focused on developing her brand while dealing with legal issues after being sued by former dancers who accused her of harassment and a hostile working environment. (Rolling Stone)
