Kacey Musgraves firmly dismissed rumors that she was upset after Beyoncé won Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter at the 2025 Grammy Awards, after her televised reaction to the moment went viral on social media. Musgraves’ representative spoke to E! News and downplayed the incident, saying, “It’s a sensationalistic false narrative meant to pit two talented female artists against each other. There was simply no scowl or expression made.” Musgraves’ ambivalent expression while Taylor Swift presented Beyoncé with the Grammy led to online debates about what she was thinking, with some fans claiming she looked angry, while others thought it was a neutral reaction, or just a natural look of disappointment. Musgraves didn’t go home empty handed from the ceremony, however, winning the Grammy Award for Best Country Song for “The Architect.” (Parade)
