Coldplay’s Chris Martin will help select artists to perform at the 2026 World Cup Final’s halftime show at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 19, 2026. That will mark the very first halftime show in the long, prestigious history of the FIFA World Cup. FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed the historic event, in partnership with Global Citizen, with a post on Instagram on Wednesday (March 5). In addition to the halftime show performances, FIFA also plans to “takeover Times Square for the final weekend of the FIFA World Cup in 2026, during both the bronze final match and final.” Martin and Coldplay’s manager Phil Harvey will help “finalise the list of artists who will perform during the halftime show, as well as at Times Square.” Coldplay have some experience with these types of high-profile live performances, as they headlined the halftime show during Super Bowl 50 in 2016, where they played a medley of their hits and were joined by special guests Bruno Mars and Beyoncé.
