There have been a rash of robberies in the past few days police are trying to sort out.

In Conway, three separate armed robberies happened within an hour and a half Sunday night. It started about 10 pm when police say three males and one female went around robbing people at gunpoint. These four are considered armed and dangerous.

In Little Rock, the Anthony school and Ms. Selma’s schools in Little Rock were locked down for a short time Monday while police looked for a robbery suspect in the area. It was just a precaution; the suspect reportedly held up the Walgreens on Cantrell. At this time, he has not been found.

Benton police are searching for a suspect who used a pickaxe to rob Walmart Monday morning. The suspect entered the store and went to the jewelry department where he used a pickaxe to break open one of the display cases. He threatened to shoot employees if they tried to stop him, but he didn’t display a gun.

These cases are still under investigation. If you have any information on any of them, call police.

If the overcrowding continues, he says the jail will have to restrict occupancy to only the most violent inmates. Local law enforcment officials will meet Thursday to talk about it.

The debate continues about letting teacher carry guns in class. Arkansas lawmakers plan to meet today to discuss certifying public school employees to carry guns.

The joint meeting of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees in Little Rock comes after a state board voted in September to allow more than a dozen school districts to continue using teachers, administrators and other staff as armed guards.

The board said it would not accept any new applications from school districts for now.
