Ashley McBride, the State Director for AARAARPP Arkansas, and Classy Green, the President of AARP Pine Bluff chapter, are both involved in the sponsorship of this year’s Southern Heritage Classic football game. The game will feature our UAPB Golden Lions against the Tennessee State University Tigers on Saturday, September 9th, at the Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis. Michelle Mothershed, the founder of the Compassion Project Community Resource fair, is organizing an event scheduled for this Saturday at Sherman Park Community Center in North Little Rock. The fair will run from 10 AM to 2 PM and will provide various resources including school supplies, health screenings, and giveaways for low-income veterans, those formerly incarcerated, and anyone in need. Nicole R. Fleetwood holds the esteemed position of the inaugural James Weldon Johnson Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication in the Steinhardt School at New York University. She is set to deliver a talk about her book, “Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration,” with moderation by Matthew Fields. The program is scheduled for this upcoming Thursday, August 17th, at 6:30 PM. Following the talk, there will be a book signing session.
