Rihanna And A$AP Rocky Are Style Queen And King Of The 2021 Met Gala

Rihanna came to defend her reign as queen of the Met Gala and this time she let A$AP Rocky join her as her leading man. RiRi dressed impeccably according to the night’s American Fashion theme. Rihanna wore a dramatic black ruffle dress from Balenciaga with a beanie and Bulgari diamonds (over 267 carats worth!). Rocky, meanwhile, was more colorful in his patchwork, blanket-like ensemble.

Rihanna has been the best dressed at the Met Gala for years, from her pope moment at the 2018 gala to her famous, giant her Guo Pei yellow gown with its large train at the 2015 Met Gala. Rihanna admitted to Access in July 2020 that she actually felt a little insecure about her iconic yellow outfit that year.

A lot of thought went into making that fashion moment happen: “That night, the choreography of getting in the car and getting out, like we had to choreograph it,” she started. “Who sits at the door? Where does the coat go? Where do I sit?”

She added that she got extremely nervous about going out on the red carpet because she saw what everyone else was wearing. “I remember being so scared to get out of that car because I felt like, ‘I’m doing too much.’” she recalled. “I was driving past the red carpet, and I was just seeing like gowns, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, like, I’m a clown. People are going to laugh at me. This is like, too much.’ I thought that. I circled like, three times, I’m not even joking, and finally, I was like, ‘Whatever, let’s go. Let’s just go. Let’s just go.’ I know. I don’t regret it,” she said, reflecting in hindsight on the choice.
