In a historic first, three women graduated from US Marine infantry training school Thursday.
These female marines were held to the same standards of physical and combat readiness as 221 male counterparts. The male graduates will join infantry units right away, but the women will have to take other jobs, though their successful completion of the course will be noted in their personnel files.
Marine Corps leaders say they need two more years to observe women in infantry to evaluate the feasibility of placing them in combat.

If you plan on traveling east in the next couple of days, you should probably pay attention to the weather.
That winter storm that swept through Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas is on its way to the East Coast, threatening to disrupt travel plans for the holiday.
Though we just got rain and a little sleet here, the storm has killed 11 people, mostly in Texas. Authorities are encouraging drivers and flyers to check their travel plans and change them accordingly. If you must get out on the road, be careful out there.
