FRIDAY, October 4

Bizzare case out of Washington DC yesterday afternoon when a woman rammed a barricade at the White House, then led authorities on a chase that ended on Capitol Hill.

The  female suspect was shot and killed by police after she rammed a Secret Service vehicle. Details are still sketchy, but the car she was driving was registered to 34-year-old Miriam Carey. Investigators are still working to confirm her identity at this hour.

Police say she had a one-year-old child in the vehicle with her. The baby was taken to a hospital and is in good condition.

The incident caused a brief lockdown of the U.S. Capitol as Congress tried unsuccessfully to end the government shutdown.

Speaking of shutdown, that whole situation has service members at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville speaking out.

Workers at the Jacksonville base felt the impact this week as approximately 350 civilian personnel were furloughed. Col. Patrick Rhatigan says the uncertainty is extremely disruptive to the entire department of defense.

He added they are getting planes in the air and doing their duty despite the cutbacks. Rhatigan says the military cannot let the mission fail, no matter what.

A man is in custody for the shooting death of a Pine Bluff man.

Police say 22-year-old Marcus Halton was arrested Thursday at 11 a.m. He is charged with the capital murder of George Haney, who was shot to death at 11th and Spruce this past Tuesday.

Con artists are using the Affordable Care Act as an outlet to try to scam you.

The Better Business Bureau in Arkansas says many people around the country are falling victim to the new plot. Scammers are calling people and offering them a health care card which doesn't exist, and in return, they're retrieving personal information.

The Better Business Bureau says the government will never call or email you. The government will only send out hard copy mail. No victims are reported in Arkansas, and officials want to keep it that way.

Highs in the mid 80s today, lows of 70 later this evening. Enjoy the nice weather while you can, because it's gonna be a wet weekend.
