KING AKEEM

A breath of fresh air has come to change radio and he goes by the name of  KING AKEEM.  Born in Memphis Tennessee, KING AKEEM (Akeem Ray), and his family moved to Little Rock when he was 6yrs. old.  This was the time Little Rock’s gang violence was on the way to its peek.  Being affiliated with gang’s in his neighborhood, he quickly saw where that lifestyle would lead him and started to turn to a different lifestyle.

 

           Entertaining people around the neighborhood gave him confidence to continue to improve his character.  Moving to California after high school to further pursue the entertainment business was the best thing that could have happen at that time.  He then found other talents in being a DJ and producer. 

From the west coast, back to his hometown of Memphis, he would start hosting/DJ parties with his cousin and began to network with the industries best. 

In 2003, a chance meeting with Interscope Records radio promoter/former radio personality Lester Pace sparked his interest in radio.  Building a strong relationship with Lester connected him with program director Nate Bell of clear channels’ WHRK in Memphis, TN.  Countless mornings of sitting in Mr. Bells’ office asking every question he could think of and being a human sponge gave him more in-site on the business of radio. 

Today in 2008 this hungry, willing, ready, and able 24yr old is ready to begin his journey into radio.  Along with a fresh voice, undeniable swagger and passion for success, KING AKEEM will prove to be one the latest greatest.
