The artist formerly known as Jermaine Jackson is now Jermaine Jacksun. The former Jackson 5 star has opted for a sunnier spelling of his last name, trading the "o" in Jackson for a "u."

According to published reports, Jermaine sought the change for artistic reasons and not because of any battles he'd had with his family over who should get guardianship of his late brother Michael Jackson's children.  Since there were no objections, he was granted his request. 

The Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner who heard the case, says in a statement, "Due to staffing shortages, we now approve Petitions for a Name Change without a hearing... if no objections are received two days prior to the hearing date..."
