2005 - JO DEE MESSINA's video for "My Give a Damn's Busted" premiered.

2005 - LITTLE BIG TOWN picked up their first gold album for The Road to Here.

2003 - NATALIE MAINES of THE DIXIE CHICKS made her infamous statement "We're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas" to an audience in London as the U.S. approached another war with Iraq. The crowd applauded, but the statement ultimately led to the Chicks effectively leaving country music.

2001 - DIAMOND RIO went to number one with "One More Day."

2000 - AMY GRANT and VINCE GILL were married in Nashville.

2000 – KORN drummer DAVID SILVERIA got a scare when he lost the use of his wrist during a concert in Fargo, North Dakota.

2000 – CHRISSIE HYNDE of THE PRETENDERS and two other people were arrested in New York City after slashing leather goods at a Gap store as part of a protest organized by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

1998Lucky Numbers, a Las Vegas-themed compilation of classic songs by FRANK SINATRA, was released. For six months, the set was sold exclusively in the gift shops of Las Vegas hotel/casino New York New York

1998 – STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman SCOTT WEILAND released his solo album 12 Bar Blues.

1997 – Singer LAVERN BAKER died from complications of diabetes at the age of 67.

1992  - PRINCE received a lifetime achievement award at the Soul Train Music Awards.

1989 – DOC GREEN of THE DRIFTERS died of cancer at the age of 54.

1988 - Pop singer ANDY GIBB died of a heart condition.  He was 30.

1981 - EDDIE RABBITT scored a gold single with "I Love a Rainy Night."

1979 - JAMES BROWN played the Grand Ole Opry at the invitation of PORTER WAGONER. He worked the country classics "Tennessee Waltz" and "Your Cheatin' Heart" into his performance. JEAN SHEPARD was upset, but BARBARA MANDRELL welcomed his appearance.

1976 – The number one pop hit was "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)" by THE FOUR SEASONS.

1973 - TAMMY WYNETTE hit the top of Billboard's country singles chart with "'Til I Get it Right."

1973 - THE EDGAR WINTER GROUP released "Frankenstein."

1965 – The number one pop hit was "Eight Days a Week" by THE BEATLES.
