Lil Wayne (Really) Heads To Jail

Finally, Lil Wayne is paying his debt to society. After two postponements caused by, respectively, dental surgery and a fire in the courthouse, Weezy was sentenced to a year in jail on Monday in New York City. MTV reports that a near riot broke out in front of Manhattan Criminal Court building when Wayne showed up, as photographers rushed to get the pics of the star in his last moments of freedom.  After being sentenced, Wayne was taken away in handcuffs so he could immediately begin serving his time.

Lil Wayne pleaded guilty this past fall to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he had a loaded gun on his tour bus.  MTV reports that with good behavior, he could be released in eight months.

While Weezy is behind bars, fans won't be lacking for material.  Over the past few weeks, the MC has worked frantically to complete videos and songs which his record label plans to release while he's inside.

Before he turned himself in, Lil Wayne posted one last tweet on his Twitter page: "Law is mind without reason...I'll return."
